Hey y’all! Just wanted to drop a quick line about a gem I came across in the Elm City. The Study at Yale is a boutique hotel conveniently located within the widespread campus of New Haven’s Yale. This spot caught me eye because you can see through the lobby window that it’s set up like a study! I saw a large wall filled with books and modern comfortable seating and just had to get a better look at what The Study had to offer!
The lobby area does have a little station that sells coffees, teas and pastries making it the perfect place to take in a new read. I was not a guest of the hotel so I didn’t get a peak at the rooms but the lobby alone gave me a fresh vibe. Inside the hotel is a restaurant called Heirloom. It’s dimly lit with marble table tops and a nice exposed wine cellar.
There’s also a hidden gem that I must share with you. Heirloom at The Study has a private events room that is a must see. Boasting its own bar and gorgeous views of the city, this room is the perfect setting for a small private gathering. I don’t live in the New Haven area so it may be hard to get my people out there for an event but someone needs to take advantage of this space! Check out the photos below!
Amazing view of the city out of a large window that spans the room!
There are also additional meeting spaces on the first floor but this room really impressed me. Hopefully I’ll be back one day either throwing or attending an event!
I got the chance to check out a new restaurant located in Farmington, CT. Butchers & Bakers works with local farms to provide American Fare as well as great cocktails. While it’s clear that I love food, I’m really all about the vibes when choosing where to dine. Butchers & Bakers had a wonderful and warm atmosphere that made my meal that much better.
This restaurant is huge! I would definitely recommend it for large parties and special events. I grabbed a booth by myself and got to chatting with my waiter Jack! He gave me some great menu recommendations. We also spoke about the patio being perfect for brunch. Who doesn’t love brunch?
Butchers & Bakers actually has three full bars. I went with my classic cocktail, a mojito. And it was delicious of course. Mojito will always be my favorite because it’s so light and refreshing! I ordered the sliced meatball pizza for my entree. My apologies, I was way too hungry and had to step out of blogger mode. But trust me, it was bomb. The pizza had a thin crust with a robust sauce and the sliced meatballs nearly melted in my mouth. Yes I ate a whole pizza by my lonesome, don’t judge me!
Overall it was simply a good vibe. There was a smooth playlist going and televisions at one of the bars for those interested in sporting events. The decor was right up my alley with the exposed brick and industrial lighting. Their large installation of a bike to spell out the word food is so clever and beautiful to look at.
Jack suggested I have the cheesecake for dessert and your girl can never turn down cheesecake! Just like the cocktail and the pizza, the dessert was fresh and delicious! I can’t wait to get back to Butchers & Bakers when it warms up so that I can enjoy brunch out on the patio with friends! I also hear they have a really good happy hour so that will be on my to-do list as well.
If you know me, you know I love a good hotel. I have high expectations for hotels I stay in to be super cute… basically instagramable! Honestly, driving up on this hotel had me nervous. I booked it as a last minute option for a short stay in Warwick, RI. But the NYLO Hotel truly turned out the be a gem. The neighborhood in Warwick had a lot of residential homes mixed in with large buildings that looked like they were once mills. There is a large mall directly across the street (I could literally see the Target bulls eye from my room’s window). So upon first glance it really didn’t seem like the hotel’s interior would be modern at all…
The shining star of NYLO Warwick is their restaurant space The Loft. When I say this space is gorgeously designed, I mean it. Laced with nautical elements and a modern furniture, this industrial space has been transformed into the type of spot you would pin as “goals”.
The hotel was pretty quiet during visit so I had the opportunity to catch a lot of photos of the space.
How cute is this clear coffee table filled with sea sponges? I can only day dream about having this white furniture in my own home!
The weather has not quite broken yet but it’s clear that the patio space is amazing. Set alongside the Pawtuxet River, I can definitely see myself returning to enjoy a hot summer day on NYLO’s deck.
Between the lighting and decor I just had to get some great shot of my travel gear. Although I was so caught up in the decor I did manage to grab a quick breakfast. The staff was very friendly and I enjoy my meal.
I should probably talk about the rooms, huh? I have to say my room was super comfortable. The room designs are not as ornate as the restaurant. The vibe leaned more towards the industrial side with exposed brick and dim lighting. But the bed was amazing. I ended up getting ill during my visit and I honestly slept like a baby in this bed! My room had a great view of the river so that was a nice plus.
There was a gym on site and while I did not partake, it definitely was a clean and welcoming space. The view of the river while working out is probably very motivating. I will say that the gym locker room had a beautiful mirror that I wanted to pull off the wall and bring home with me!!
Another cute area of the hotel was the lobby. I didn’t get any quality photos because the lighting was poor but there is lots of art and it’s set up like a small library. I’ll definitely be back when it warms up and actually plan to check out more NYLO locations across the country!
If you follow me on instagram you probably saw my ashy reveal of my new travel pieces from Dagne Dover. Yes, it was between the finger and thumb on a cold winter day ashy but that’s how excited I was about the products! I didn’t even attempt to get cute! Well now that I’ve invested in a camera I can show you the pieces in a much better light.
When I say I am in LOVE… I don’t know how else to amplify this statement. After being a Dagne Dover fan for sometime I was truly excited for the release of their 365 collection of neoprene travel wear. I purchased the Landon Carryall in the Quartz color and size large and the Hunter toiletry bag in the size large. This brand is known for constructing chic yet functional pieces to keep your life organized. What I love most about each piece is the add-ons they come with.
The Landon carryall comes with a zippered shoe bag, a mesh pouch and a stretchy leash you can use to link the pouch or many of their other products. The pouch and leash are sold separately as well but the shoe bag is exclusive to the carryall. The interior has two mesh pockets, a laptop sleeve and a zippered pocket.
The Hunter toiletry bag comes with a mesh pouch that attaches via velcro as well as a wide oval shaped mesh pouch that is perfect for makeup brushes and pencils. There is also a mesh sleeve in the interior and three loops perfect for glosses, lipsticks, etc.
Once you factor in the adorable camo dust bags that the products actually arrive in (which of course you can make use of as well) you are truly getting your money worth. I use the large dust bag to separate soiled items within my carryall and the smaller dust bag to store gadgets like chargers, headphones and batteries. As far as I’m concerned I paid for two pieces and received nine products.
Since purchasing I’ve had a handful of friends do the same and they are equally satisfied. These pieces are great for all levels of travelers but especially perfect for me who loves a good weekend or road trip. This purchase is a no brainer especially with free shipping and hassle free returns. But trust me, you won’t be sending these babies back! Shop now with my referral link and treat yourself!
